Safeguarding
Promoting a Safer Church
The Callington Cluster of Churches along with the Diocese of Truro and, indeed, the rest of the Church is now doing all it can to ensure that we maintain a safe and healthy environment for all people.
To this end, everyone involved in any way in a voluntary capacity within our five churches has been encouraged to undertake the Basic Awareness Safeguarding training course provided by the Diocese. Those who lead or assist in services, children’s groups, music worship groups or pastoral care teams are expected to take higher level training and, if required, to undergo a DBS (Disclosure and Barring) check as a matter of course.
It has been wonderful to see how willing folk have been to undertake these responsibilities; appreciating the need to be watchful and ensure the protection of minors and vulnerable adults at all levels.
So, if you are attending one of our churches and feel led by the Lord to volunteer to help in one or other of the clubs, groups or organisations, please don’t be surprised at the level of form filling and checks you may be required to undergo.
“God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all (the Safeguarding requirements) that you need, you will abound in every good work” 2 Cor. 9:8
